{"id":1897,"date":"2014-05-11T14:11:36","date_gmt":"2014-05-11T14:11:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.modellismochepassione.it\/?p=1897"},"modified":"2016-01-03T19:58:57","modified_gmt":"2016-01-03T19:58:57","slug":"come-realizzare-un-realistico-ponte-ligneo-in-scala-1400-su-una-moderna-nave-da-battaglia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.modellismochepassione.it\/en\/come-realizzare-un-realistico-ponte-ligneo-in-scala-1400-su-una-moderna-nave-da-battaglia\/","title":{"rendered":"How to do a wooden realistic bridge in 1\/400 scale on a modern battleship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<h4><em>When I found myself studying the historical documentation of the model under consideration &#8221; RNPola &#8221; I studied how I could be able to realize the wooden parts of the bridge in a realistic\u00a0 way.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Staining with various effects , glazes wear shingles etc. &#8230;. But nothing really responded in full to my original idea .<\/em><\/h4>\n<h3><strong>Finally I decided to realize the wooden bridge in authentic wood .<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>After a long research I managed to find <strong>the slats of the right size<\/strong>, we are\u00a0 talking\u00a0 about the\u00a0 of <strong>1:400 scale<\/strong>. Originally the decks of the ships were in Italian Tek but then also for economic hardship is also made extensive use of the &#8220;National Walnut&#8221;. At this point the road was still a\u00a0 long one: I had to<strong> &#8220;recover&#8221; the plastic parts of the original bridge: winches, fairleads, accommodation etc. of the main towers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Before doing so<strong> I recreated the surface to be coated<\/strong> using a<strong> thin sheet of birch 0.5 mm<\/strong>. This is not easy but can be achieved only with great calm and attention, exactly the same way\u00a0 how the recovery of plastic parts from the original surface.<br \/>\nAfter 5 days of work I had a new surface to be coated and a myriad of plastic pieces to insert on the brand new\u00a0 bridge.<\/p>\n<p>First of all I put in place the sections that would host the ordered structure of reinforcement made of plywood.<\/p>\n<p>The same can also be made in plasticard.<\/p>\n<p>My plywood sheet had a <strong>thickness of 1.5 mm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Laid it all on the ship I started to work\u00a0 <strong>with the deck boards cut to size<\/strong> ( following the directions of the plastic model ) <strong>using white\u00a0 glue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"ponte-in-legno01\" src=\"http:\/\/www.modellismochepassione.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/ponte-in-legno01.jpg\" width=\"460\" height=\"334\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After 24 hours I started to <strong>treat the surface with sandpaper<\/strong> to smooth it all and eliminate any defects .<\/p>\n<p>At this point, I have treated the area with a <strong>wash of oil paint &#8221; Black&#8221;, &#8221; Bruno Van Dick ,&#8221; &#8221; Burnt Sienna &#8221; and &#8220;Raw Umber &#8220;<\/strong> . Mixed in a\u00a0 ratio\u00a0 of : 20 % of color and 80 % of diluent.<\/p>\n<p>Let dry everything I <strong>rehearsed the surface with very fine sandpaper<\/strong> removing\u00a0 color excess<\/p>\n<p>So I finished all with a <strong>polished by hand and with the\u00a0 thixotropic\u00a0 wood wax type<\/strong>\u00a0 that melts\u00a0 stirring .<\/p>\n<p>After 24 hours\u00a0 I repositioned plastic parts taken from the bridge of the original box and this is the result.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"ponte-in-legno02\" src=\"http:\/\/www.modellismochepassione.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/ponte-in-legno02.jpg\" width=\"460\" height=\"334\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Alessandro
